The feast day of St. Blaise, who saved a boy from choking on a fish bone and thus became the patron saint of throats. Unfortunately, he lost his own when he was beheaded in 316. Throats were traditionally blessed on this day with crossed candles and the prayer: “Through the intercession of St. Blaise, bishop and martyr, may God free you from illness of the throat and from any other sort of ill. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.”A nice thought. Stay well.
